The Office of Independent Review (OIR) is currently in the process of finalizing individual reports on custodial connected deaths for the year 2022. Once completed, these reports will be published here.
In 2022, there were a total of 17 custodial connected deaths, with the manner of death classified as Accident, Natural, Suicide, or Undetermined. Each cause of death is detailed within the respective bar in the visualization. Specifically, for overdose cases, the type of drug involved—such as Methamphetamine (MET), Fentanyl (FEN), or Methadone (MTD)—is indicated. On the x-axis, you can see the number of days the individual was in custody prior to their death. Below you will find more data on each individual custodial connected death.
